$20,000 Stolen During Underage Party

The McHenry County Sheriff's Office and Crime Stoppers of McHenry is asking the public to provide information into the theft.

Police are asking for the public’s help in providing information into a theft that occurred at a rural McHenry home earlier this month.

An investigation by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office revealed around $20,000 and 100 Hyrdrocodone pills was stolen from the home, which is located in the 800 block of Florence Street in unincorporated McHenry, on Feb. 11, according to a McHenry County press release.

The theft occurred when the homeowners were out of town. Their daughters, a 15-year-old girl and 18-year-old woman, invited friends over without their parent’s permission, according to the news release.

The sheriff’s department believes one of the 25 teenagers who attended the party is responsible for the theft and is now seeking information from the public regarding the theft.

Anyone with information can contact Crime Stoppers of McHenry County at 1-800-762-STOP (7867) or the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office at 815-338-2144.

Callers can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward up to $1,000.00 for information leading to the arrest and prosecution of the offender(s). Crime Stoppers does not use caller ID.
