Poll: Should Chicago Have a Casino?

Illinois lawmakers are again looking to expand gambling options in Illinois.

  Illinois lawmakers are considering plans to add more casinos as the state continues to grapple with budget woes. The latest proposals would place casinos in Danville, Rockford and Waukegan. Another proposal would allow for slot machines to be operated at race tracks like Arlington Park, the Alton Daily News reported. The bills are sponsored by Terry Link (D-Waukegan) in the Senate and Lou Lang (D-Skokie) in the House. Gov. Pat Quinn has called the legislation to, once again, expand gambling in Illinois "a distraction." Meanwhile, behind the scenes, Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel has been pushing for a Chicago casino. Lake County Sheriff Arrests Alleged Heroin Dealers After Wauconda Death

Two Waukegan suspects arrested at Wauconda forest preserve; Waukegan man charged with drug induced homicide in relation to death of 26-year-old Wauconda man.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO), Criminal Investigations Division (CID), made two arrests and seized heroin in the course of investigating the death of a 26 year-old Wauconda man who died from a heroin overdose in the morning hours on May 16.    According to a news release from the LCSO, Deputies and Coroner investigators called in CID after determining the scene reflected the death was the result of a drug overdose.  In an investigation led by Det. Chris Covelli, members of CID were able to identify the probable source of the heroin and subsequently were able to establish contact with that individual. The Cary Memorial Day Parade will start at 10:15 a.m. on Monday, May 28, 2012, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church (First Street & Three Oaks Road).  The parade will be followed by a ceremony at Cary Veteran's Park and conclude before Noon. Cary Proclaims White Clover Days as May 18-19

Cary calls upon all residents to support the Cary "AmVets White Clover Days," on their worthy project for our nation's heroes on May 18 and 19, 2012. Participants will be posted around town ready to collect any donations.  The White Clover means "remember me," which is the official flower of AMVETS, and symbolizes "the states from which the U.S. Armed Forces were drawn and the worldwide battlefields on which they fought," says the organization's information sheet.

Union Stabbing Leads to Man's Arrest

McHenry County Sheriff's arrest Chicago man.

  A fight between employees at a Union business resulted in a man’s stabbing and the arrest of a Chicago man on assault charges, the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office said. Noe X. Casimiro, 22, is charged with aggravated battery, a Class 3 felony and unlawful use of a weapon, a Class A misdemeanor, sheriff’s deputies said. Casimiro reportedly stabbed a man in the abdomen during a fight Thursday. The victim was transported to Centegra Woodstock Hospital and underwent emergency surgery, according to reports. The victim was listed in stable condition, authorities said.   The charges against the above named defendant are merely allegations against him. The defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
