Crystal Lake native and South graduate honored by community.
Crystal Lake flags were lowered to half-staff today and people gathered outside Crystal Lake South and throughout downtown as the body of USMC Captain Nathan McHone was brought to Davenport Funeral Home. McHone died Jan. 19 in a helicopter crash in Afghanistan. Visitation for McHone will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Davenport. The funeral is scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 932 S. McHenry Ave., Crystal Lake. Parking will also be available at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 1023 McHenry Ave. McHone will be buried in Windridge Memorial Park Cemetery in Cary. Funeral arrangements have been made for Crystal Lake Marine.
After a small ceremony was held in Afghanistan, it's now time for the Crystal Lake area to say goodbye to a Marine who died Jan. 19 in a helicopter crash in Afghanistan. According to the Crystal Lake Police Department, City flags will be lowered to half-staff today in honor of USMC Captain Nathan McHone. Flags will return to full-staff Jan. 29 at sunset. The remains of McHone will be escorted from Dupage County Airport to Davenport Funeral Home in Crystal Lake Friday, Jan. 27. The escort will pass by City Hall sometime between 12:30 and 1 p.m, according to police. Crystal Lake South also plans to honor McHone as his body passes the school at around noon today. Frustrated with Senate Republicans blocking a majority of 51 senators from passing President Barack Obama’s American Jobs Act, Sen. Richard Durbin, D-Springfield, said he's willing to change the filibuster rule to require dissenting legislators to speak continually against a bill. Rep. Mark Beaubien of the 52nd District will be laid to rest Friday, June 10.
Friends and family of Representative Mark Beaubien, Jr. can say their final goodbyes to the longtime lawmaker this week. Visitation for Beaubien is scheduled from 1 to 9 p.m. Thursday, June 9 at Davenport Funeral Home in Crystal Lake. A mass of Christian burial will take place at 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 10 at St. Anne Church in Barrington. Burial will be private and will take place at White Memorial Cemetery in Barrington. Beaubien died June 5. According to the Chicago Tribune, he suffered a heart attack while attending a GOP event at Arlington Park race track. He served as the representative of the 52nd District since 1996.
